ITINERARY
DAY 01
DELHI
On arrival in Delhi, you are met and you transfer to your
hotel.
DAY 02 DELHI - AGRA
After breakfast we begin our sightseeing tour of New Delhi
at the enchanting Laxmi Narayan Temple, and take a drive
past The Presidents House to India Gate. We spend time
enjoying the peace and tranquillity of Humayan's Tomb, and
marvelling at the Bhai Temple (a perfect lotus-shaped
temple) and the 11th century Qutab Minar. We also
see the Mahatama Gandhi Memorial and the imposing Mughal
Red Fort at Old Delhi. In the afternoon we set off
on the 235 km drive to Agra and transfer
to your hotel.
DAY 03 AGRA - JAIPUR
After a leisurely breakfast we visit the magnificent Taj
Mahal - one of the seven wonders of the world and surely the
most extravagant expression of love ever created. We
spend several hours exploring this sacred sight and
learning its history before exploring Agra’s Red Fort
set high above the city. The rusty and majestic red-sandstone fort of Agra stands on
the banks of the river Yamuna up high above the
city. In the afternoon we drive to Jaipur, just over
200 kms away, stopping en route to visit Fatehpur
Sikri. This perfectly preserved red-sandstone city
was abandoned when the town’s water supply dried up, and
taking a wander through its deserted streets is a surreal
yet valuable experience. On arrival in Jaipur we
check into your hotel.
DAY 04 JAIPUR
After
breakfast we begin a
sightseeing tour of the Pink City of Jaipur.
Jaipur was
constructed in 1727 out of local pink sandstone that glows
gloriously in the setting sun, providing a spectacular
backdrop to the typical Rajasthani cultural sights that
continue to thrive here in their traditional manner. It
is named after Jai Singh, the former Maharaja, and is the only
city in the world to symbolise the nine divisions of the
universe, through the nine rectangular sectors dividing
the city.
We take time to absorb the charms of this wonderful city, visiting
the elaborate City Palace and the Royal Observatory. Then
we make a special journey to the Amber
Fort outside the city walls. Ride up to the fort in
style on the broad back of an elephant, and again taste
the life once lived by reigning Maharajahs.
Overnight is spent at your hotel here in Jaipur.
DAY 05 JAIPUR
After breakfast we leave Jaipur and begin our five hour
drive out of Rajasthan and back to Delhi. On arrival
in Delhi we transfer to the airport or station for your
onward journey, or to your onward hotel. Tour ends. TOUR
